The Delaware Theatre Company realized the need for a new facility to accommodate expanding programs.  The historic restoration area along the ChristinaRiverwas selected for the new theatre.

This uniquely designed facility utilized the existing foundations of the building that was razed. The highly sophisticated theatre equipment created an interesting challenge for Wohlsen’s construction team. Working closely with the owner and architect, the project was completed in time for the first play of the season.

  • The new theatre provided much-needed space, creating:
  • 400-seat auditorium
  • Stage with adequate fly area for scenery and lighting
  • Dressing rooms
  • Rehearsal area
  • Scenery shop
  • Lobby
  • Administration offices
