Internships and Co-ops

Wohlsen’s interns and co-ops are contributing members of our team. They perform critical tasks on multi-million-dollar commercial construction projects, under the guidance of an experienced mentor looking to teach the next generation of construction workers.

We invest in our interns and co-ops because we love to later hire them!

That is why our 11-to-15 positions are so coveted. We consider our program to be a three-month interview. Our goal is to find talented, motivated individuals who are passionate about a career in construction.

Interns and co-ops are available in various roles, including project engineers, estimators, marketing assistants, and IT.

The program is highly formalized, but fun! Interns receive world-class training, demonstrate what they learn, and receive immediate feedback. In addition to working with our seasoned professionals, interns and co-ops collaborate with each other through weekly peer group meetings.

Instruction includes:

  • Technical systems training
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification
  • Professionalism in construction
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Team building
  • Conflict management
  • Presentation skills

We offer competitive pay, gift cards, Wohlsen-branded PPE, apparel, tools, and electronics. Plus, participants get the recognition they deserve for their hard work, with mentions on our social media platforms through our “Intern Spotlight Series.”

Each program is capped off with a celebration at a baseball game. We bring all interns to Lancaster for a day of training and reflection, then it’s off to see the Lancaster Barnstormers, followed by an overnight stay at a local hotel.

My time at Wohlsen as an estimating intern was an incredible learning experience. This opportunity challenged me to use my education and prior construction experience as an actual member of the Wohlsen team. It gave me a better understanding of the bidding process and how a project moves from ideas on a page to a finished product.

My internship provided me with a greater understanding of the responsibilities of a project engineer and the intricate construction process that could not be taught in school. Wohlsen not only met but exceeded my expectations with their internship program.
