Wohlsen is committed to an inclusive workplace environment and building a diverse team that is representative of the communities we serve. We recognize having a variety of perspectives is critical to delivering innovation, creativity, and problem-solving. Wohlsen fosters a culture of acceptance and understanding. We provide equal opportunities and value everyone’s skills and ideas.
We regularly review internal data to identify job classifications in connection to minorities. We analyze our promotions and training offerings to ensure that all team members have access to upward mobility opportunities. And, all team members take a mandatory training course which includes unconscious bias awareness.
Strategic recruitment of diverse talent is a priority at Wohlsen. Our robust, paid summer internship program is run with an eye toward diversifying Wohlsen for the future.
Wohlsen was a founding sponsor of the local chapter of the Architecture, Construction and Engineering (ACE) Mentor Program, which strives to introduce construction careers to minority high school students.
Wohlsen is also an active member of the National Association of Women in Construction to leverage affiliations and networks to promote the Wohlsen brand as an opportunity for women looking to grow and advance in the construction profession.
Through peer groups, our Construction Excellence Team and our Continuous Improvement Council, team members have regular opportunities to provide input on how Wohlsen can best serve our clients. Additionally, we actively solicit proposals from a diverse group of business enterprises including those owned by people of color, women, veterans, and those who are disabled.
Wohlsen’s DEI mission:
Improve Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to better reflect the communities in which we work to foster a more inclusive environment.
Increase the diversity in candidates applying for opportunities, considered for hire, and ultimately the diversity of candidates hired.
Develop practices, policies, and education to bring awareness to and appreciation of the value diversity offers the company.
Explore the practices of peer organizations and groups, and identify aspects of best-in-class programs to implement.
Increase the diversity of trade partners invited to bid work on XLI projects and the percentage, by volume, awarded to them.
